Not Walking Alone: A Single Mom’s Guide to Divine Provision and Peace

“He will feed his flock like a shepherd. He will carry the lambs in his arms, holding them close to his heart. He will gently lead the mother sheep with their young.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭40‬:‭11‬ ‭NLT‬‬ https://bible.com/bible/116/isa.40.11.NLT

I feel like this scripture just speaks to me in this season and I am so grateful for the imagery! I see Jesus saying my little single momma family is his flock. He feeds us- with bogo discounts on a tight budget and surprise blessings from his people.

He will carry the lambs- my three little kiddos- in his arms when they can’t keep up anymore. When the triggers come that remind them of their abuse and abandonment, when they feel excluded at school, when the burdens of schoolwork and friend drama pile on them while they are fighting to heal from of the weight of the trauma they were exposed to… Jesus picks them up.

He carries my little vulnerable lamb children close to his heart. They feel his breathing calm them down. They are comforted by his heartbeat and feel his tender love just for them. He understands their pain and rescues them.

He gently leads the mother sheep with her young. I’m the mamma. He gently leads me through his word, through biblical teaching at church, through the godly people he has brought all around me. He gently leads me as I lead my little family. He’s not harsh. He doesn’t compare me to other people doing it better. He doesn’t shame my flaws or makes me feel less than. He doesn’t focus on my lack. He doesn’t beat me down with unrealistic expectations or torment me with anxious thoughts.

He gently leads me with my babies. He’s worthy of following. I don’t have to do it alone. He’s my leader. My gentle leader who knows me by name. He knows my ins and outs- my passions, dreams, desires and his plans for me. He leads me to good things. He chases us down with goodness and mercy (Psalm 23:6)!

“Father to the fatherless, defender of widows—this is God, whose dwelling is holy. God places the lonely in families;
he sets the prisoners free and gives them joy.” Psalm 68:5-6

This is the love and encouragement this mama needed to start her day!
