I found fry bread while I was playing on Pinterest today. I ordered it on Amazon immediately. I really enjoyed listening it with the kids. I especially loved a number of things about this:

1. It depicted the diversity within Indigenous Americans

2. It features a native author

3. It helps dispel common stereotypes that relegate native peoples to the past and freezes them in time by focusing on how they continue to thrive today

4. It helps expand kids’ cultural awareness

5. It invites all children to explore an important and symbolic piece of the author’s heritage- fry bread- for themselves
