Third Grade AR Book Playlist

Trying to keep on top of my kiddos reading at school can be a challenge. Many of us parents and educators want to see our kids succeed in meeting their Accelerated Reader goals. Third graders are independent readers, but can lack some confidence as they read. Many feel pressure if they aren’t reading long chapter books. Fear not- mixing up the endurance building chapter books and short books provides varied exposure to authors, styles, vocabulary, and content that these growing readers need! These books are leveled to your kiddo’s reading level just like chapter books are and they are just as beneficial!

In order to make it super easy, I created a playlist for you of easy, high quality, AR books from my classroom library!

You can find the level on the book title, description, and in the video. The AR quiz number and points are in the description and in the video.

Ways to Use the Playlist

Classroom

-Play as a morning routine or closing routine in your classroom

-Play in a workstation – kids can read along with a copy of the book or listen and watch, as the center leader pauses and lets kids respond to the reader’s questions or questions from students

Home

-Play in the car when you have a captive audience and you’re in transit from kid activities

-Build the playlists in a “storytime” routine right before or after a meal (the kids can watch on their devices or you can share on the screen in the living room)

-Play on a speaker at bedtime for bedtime

How do you use the playlist? What works for you?
