I Like Myself 🥰 | Read Aloud

I Like Myself is the sweetest book about loving you for you- inside and out. This is an affirming, encouraging, short story that uplifts the self esteem of it’s listeners. It is a kiddie favorite- silly pictures and positivity make it an interesting read that holds the attention of a wide span of listeners!

I would read this aloud and ask children to identify all the beautiful differences and similarities they see. I would use that to springboard a discussion of what connects the children to one another and what connects that child to other children in their classroom/ neighborhood/ community, etc. This would transition easily to a talk about being a friend, including others, learning from differences, working together… all sorts of socio-emotional skill building!
